![]() The idea of a community Theatre for Chorlton first came around in 2001, when Chorlton High School (then called Oakwood High) was designated a Specialist Arts College. In a total rebuild of the school on one site, costing in excess £18 million, the opportunity arose to build and develop a professional Theatre. In September 2002, Zoe Morris came on board the project as Director of Arts College, and oversaw the initial stages of the Theatre concept. A few of months later, Mark Harrington joined the project as Head of Technical Services, with the responsibility of kitting out the new Theatre, and developing the Technical resources. |

![]() The Theatre was completed in early 2004, and within it's first few months of operation saw the likes of Prime Minister Tony Blair and the BeeGees in it's audiences! Now, in it's second year, the Blue Box Theatre is building upon this success and hosts a wide range of events, including Theatre, Music Concerts, Dance Shows, Conferences, Workshops... to name but a few. The Blue Box continues to be in constant demand from local community groups as well as professional and touring organisations alike. In October 2005, Miriam Goodall joined the expanding Theatre team, as Facilities Coordinator. Miriam now handles enquiries and bookings for the Blue Box. |
